Stand Strong and Say No to Fracked Gas in NYC

Rockaway Beach, NY – Fracked gas has been around since the early 1800s.  It was discovered during the Battle of Fredericksburg, VA.  Due to the drilling technique shale rock, oil and natural gas were extracted from it.  This allowed the U.S. to produce more oil and gas.  According to oilprice.com, it is stated by the year 2020 that the U.S. would become energy independent.

Fracked gas is not something the people want.  In recent studies, it shows how this particular gas going through the pipeline could be devasting to our environment, climate change, human health, and marine life.

Many organizations have come together to make up the coalition to stop the Williams pipelineSane Energy Project one of the key organizers of the coalition has helped to develop plans to stop the pipeline from being built.  The pipeline which would carry fracked gas is said to be energy efficient although Sane Energy Project and others have a different belief.

JK Canepa from Sane Energy Project recently stated that “the pipeline company will get a billion dollars plus a 14% profit”.

“Paid for guaranteed; paid for if they can build this pipeline”.

“Has nothing to do with whether the gas is going to go through the pipe or not”, said JK Canepa.

The Williams energy company want to be known for creating a “best market”  to the north and south of the Marcellus and Utica supply area.  Williams company continues to invest in the Transco interstate natural gas pipeline. This pipeline will go from Texas to New York City.  The project is part of a 23-mile segment in New York Harbor to date.

JK Canepa stated, “ Williams pipeline is not extracting gas”.

“They’re not in the gas business, they’re in the pipeline business”.

According to sources, the Williams’ pipeline has been denied on several occasions, which means the coalition is doing something right when protesting and sending letters to the government and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.

The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation has already denied the certification for water quality for the proposed Northeast Supply Enhancement Project with the Williams company.

JK Canepa and her colleagues understand that the fight isn’t over.  They have been fighting for a few years now and will continue to rally, send letters and meet with officials that have a say in the Williams pipeline.

Canepa has met some challenges and even some issues with the law when protesting for the better of the people and communities.  Canepa’s care for the wealth of the environment allows her strong advocacy relations to help battle the fight for protecting the planet.

Kim Fraczek Takes On The Williams Pipeline Again

Rockaway Beach, NY – In today’s ever-changing environment, some people welcome the change and those who don’t want the change.  One of the biggest issues plaguing NYC today is the Williams Pipeline.

The purpose of the pipeline is to transport fracked gas also known as methane through Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Staten Island, Brooklyn, and the Rockaways. The project according to the Williams Co is a safe way to emit less carbon dioxide than coal and oil and it coordinates with the goals of NYC.

A recent post on LinkedIn states that the Northeast Supply Enhancement Project will be beneficial to New York and Long Island long term.

This issue has brought various organizations together who are not interested in the fracked gas for a multitude of reasons.  Fracked gas is harmful to the well-being of humans and marine life. There are safety issues that concern even those in other places like California that are dealing with fracking.

California governor criticizes increase in fracking permits from r/Fracking

One advocate that stands up for the fight against the Williams Pipeline is Kim Fraczek.   Kim has been advocating for over 9 years and campaigning against the pipeline here in NYC.  As the director of the Sane Energy Project, Kim facilitates and helps to organize events within the communities to present the case of why the people don’t want these pipelines.

Kim’s past experiences line up with advocacy issues relating to animal rights, clean water and the right to ownership of public energy.

Kim’s creativity also helps with the design of art showcasing various ways to promote a cleaner and safer environment.  As an activist, her talents can lead the team in strategic pathways to engage the community against the current issues.

With the current issue of the Williams pipeline, Kim and her team along with other organizations were able to get the Department of Environmental Conservation to decline the proposal for the pipeline.  The appeals and talking to the politicians like Govern Cuomo has given Kim and the Stop the Williams Pipeline Coalition enough ammunition to put a halt to the pipeline, but the process of the Williams Co reapplied again to continue the ongoing fight to build the pipeline in New York City.

Kim’s passion for protecting the environment and the community will continue to plan and delegate scenarios to help propose a foolproof campaign that will hopefully stop the Williams pipeline altogether.

With the help of 350BK, Rockaway Beach Civic Association, New York Communities for Change, Food and Water Watch, Surfrider Foundation and 350Org help to make up the coalition for Stop the Williams Pipeline.  Kim Fraczek and other members utilizing their social media platforms to help show what is going on with the project and where it stands.  They provide links and sources to reputable people and sites for you to gain knowledge about the pipeline proposal and why they are against the building of the pipeline.

According to sources, the coalition will not stop until the Williams pipeline is stopped for good.

Connect with Kim Fraczek on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for more details on how you can join in with the fight to stop the Williams Pipeline.

Bungalow Bar hosts their weekly Trivia Game Night

By Shani Hannah | April 9, 2019

Rockaway Beach, NY – The Bungalow Bar located in the middle of the Rockaways hosted their weekly Trivia Game night on Thursday, April 4, 2019.  Trivia games are hosted by a local event team called DJs @ Work.

Bungalow Bar is a relaxed environment that serves the Rockaway community along with visitors from all over the city, Long Island and even out of state to name a few.  People come from all over to enjoy good eats and drinks.

The Bungalow Bar has been opened for 10+ years.  BB decided to have events to bring out the customers as well as new business to enjoy and have fun not just during the warm season but also during the cold nights when people are looking for something to do but don’t want to go far.  Trivia night is only one source of entertainment that they provide to their customers.  By having Trivia and other events it has brought in more revenue than just a regular night especially during the winter.  Most restaurants have a decline in sales when it is the cold months.

The Bungalow Bar is nestled right in the middle of Jamaica Bay where you can overlook it when you’re crossing the Crossbay Bridge.  During the summer months, you can swim up to the restaurant or even dock your small boat and stop in for drinks and food and entertainment.

Bungalow Bar thrives on having happy customers, therefore, they cater to what they enjoy.  Trivia game night allows people to have teams and they have to answer questions and there is a winner at the end of the game.

The workers cater to their clientele, so they feel like part of the Bungalow family.

The Bungalow Bar will continue to host various events to assure that the community continues to come back as well as spread the word.

Who is Distinguish, and why is he important?

Rockaway Beach, NY –  We have focused on big-name stars and how they are an influence in our communities; but we need to start looking at the advocators within our community that are there to do for the people.  One gentleman Henry Gray is no mystery to the public. Henry Gray aka Distinguish, originally known for his poetic style that leads him to a place of a piece in the mind because he like most people was ready to give up on life.  He isn’t one for titles or wanting to be recognized with big accolades.  Henry just wants people to understand his worth and his purpose while he is continuously helping others.

Henry started using his poetic forum to invite other artists to speak out about life in poetry fashion.  He used a platform called Bars N the Barbershop, where the artists would perform in various barbershop locations.  This platform gives an opportunity for talents to be shared that otherwise might not have been noticed or was still trying to find a way to market themselves.  Henry expanded this platform to the United Kingdom and gave the performers there an opportunity to compete and perform against each other. When they reached a certain level and had high sales, they were flown to the United States to be a part of a show that is part of his network, under Disnetwork Inc.  This allows peoples voices to be heard and bring positivity to the youth and hip-hop community.  The show is actually going on the road because April 6 starts the beginning of the tour.

Henry is also behind the face of Dad Hats & BowTies.  The purpose of this platform is a podcast journey that speaks about social justice and media, movie reviews, new in fashion and some other hot topics.  This platform also engages with A, B, C list celebrities within the industry of music and business today.  Henry and his partner are looking to expand this network as well, that will allow intellectuals, hosts and creatives to be a part of the plan.
